2009 ACTIVITY

 

  1. Micro-Financing Scheme in NAD by CARE Foundation and PT BISMA
    YMP helped business continuity for small to middle-sized businesses scale that needs additional working capital. This program is a micro financing scheme which in line with the company's commitment to engage directly with community empowerment. YMP has allocated USD 1 billion for 3 year program. In the initial phase of this program, 250 small to middle-sized home industries (UKM) have received the funding. This micro financing scheme is an initiative of the YMP, CARE Indonesia, and PT BISMA (Bina Insan Sejahtera Mandiri) to empower of the people of Aceh.



  2. KidsFest
    YMP was one of the sponsors of the first International Children Film Festival (KidsFfest) in Indonesia. KidsFfest is a film festival that offers kids quality movies originated from 18 countries that has been conducted on 17-27 July 2009. On this occasion, YMP has also invited 100 students and teachers from Manulife schools located in Sukabumi namely Manulife SDN SDN Pondok Tisuk and Simpenan to watch movie together with management and staff of Manulife Indonesia on July 26, 2009 and visited the Manulife Indonesia headquarter office in Jakarta.



  3. Solidarity with Padang Earthquake
    The Manulifers have collected fund for the amount of Rp 60,560,600 and all of the proceeds will be donated to the earthquake victims in city of Padang. The company made “top up” which means the company doubled the fund therefore the total donations that has channeled to the earthquake victims in Padang was Rp 182,142,272. YMP has also channeled Manulife Singapore donations worth Rp 28,795,636.17 (SGD $ 4,425).

     

  4. Flood in Manila
    Manila experienced heavy rains and severe flooding on Saturday September 26th. The flood was Philippines’ worst flooding in 40 years. The flood destroyed many homes and business. Manulife Financial’s first priority is to ensure the safety and comfort of 1,700 employees and 1,200 agents in Manila. In response to the disaster, Manulife Philippines is providing immediate practical assistance to staff and their families in terms of food, clothing, and accommodation. In addition, those most affected will be offered emergency loans and home renovation loans. Manulife Financial made immediate company donation to the Red Cross of $ 100,000. YMP also support the Manulife Philippines employees who were the flood victims in Manila.

  6. Manulife Schools
    Since established in 1998, YMP has annual program to support Manulife schools in several post-natural disaster area. Until now, YMP has 5 Manulife schools located in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (SDN 25 Manulife and SDN 28 Manulife), Special district of Yogyakarta (SD Winongo Manulife), and Sukabumi (SDN Simpenan and SDN Pondok Tisuk). The assistance of YMP is not only in terms of school renovation but also facilities to enhance the quality of education such as note books, school bags, and school chairs.



      1. Inauguration of Manulife SDN Aceh
        YMP cooperated with UNICEF in rebuilding SDN 25 Manulife that located in Bandar Baru Lamprit, Kuta Alam district, Banda Aceh that was destroyed by tsunami in 2004. Accompanied by Adi Purnomo (Vice President Director & Chief Operating Officer) and Nelly Husnayati (EVP & Chief Agency Officer), David Beynon (President Director) inaugurated the new school building of SDN 25 Manulife on July 23, 2009.



  7. YMP Offers Scholarships to Employee’s Children
    As a company’s concern on the education of employee’s children, YMP offers Outstanding Manulife Scholarship that specially designed for children of employees of Rank & File up to Supervisor level. This year, through the selection process, the scholarships were given to 35 children that consist of 27 elementary school students, 7 junior high school students, and 1 high school students.

     

  8. 20 Sets of Tables and Chairs and 100 School Bags for 2 Elementary Schools in Lembang, West Java
    To increase brand awareness in West Java, Manulife Indonesia sponsored cross-country running event that participated by approximately 2,000 participants on October 25, 2009 in Lembang, West Java. As a manifestation of Manulife Indonesia’s concern on community and its surroundings, through YMP, Manulife Indonesia donated 20 sets of tables and chairs and 100 school bags to 2 elementary schools namely SDN 3 Wangunsari and SDN 2 Cibogo in Lembang.


  9. Blood Donation Event
    As a manifestation of company’s concern on humanity, YMP carried out blood donation event on December 16, 2009. It was an annual blood donation event that has been conducted regularly by YMP since 2002. This blood donor event was participated by 208 persons – consisting of staffs and agents of Manulife Indonesia. This humanitarian activity was organized by YMP and Indonesian Red Cross (PMI). All blood collected has been donated to PMI for humanitarian activities.
